LOCATION:  Dixon Mountain Ranch is located just four miles out of dell, Montana at the mouth of Big Sheep Creek canyon.  The ranch headquarters is nestled up against the base of this majestic, 10,000 feet high mountain with slopes dotted with pine trees making excellent habitat for wild game such as deer, elk and mountain sheep.  The deeded water is diverted from Big Sheep Creek that irrigates approximately 400 acres of hay ground.  The owner says yields are as high as 4.5 ton with proper management.  All of the hay ground is irrigated with flood irrigation and a pivot with the exception of about 40 acres that is irrigated with wheel lines.

Big Sheep Creek is noted through the Intermountain West for its excellent fishing.  People come from all the neighboring states including Utah and California just for the fishing in Big Sheep Creek.  Big Sheep Creek is a blue ribbon trout creek and is just past the ranch.  The Red Rock River is just four miles away.  It is also known nation wide for its fishing.

Elk Hunting:  There is no better elk hunting to be found in the state of Montana than in the back pasture or hay field of Dixon Mountain Ranch.  The owners always get their elk just a few hundred feet from the ranch headquarters in the fall.  The elk come right down off the mountain and graze in the second crop alfalfa on the ranch.

Deer Hunting:  Big Mule Deer are to be found on the steep slopes of Dixon Mountain and Big Sheep Canyon.  They come down to the ranch pasture to graze in the evening.  Moose are to be seen on the creek bottoms.  Mountain Sheep and mountain goats are up on the highest cliffs or rock ledges.
